About bumshi

In short

bumshi is a website of free browser games inspired by the news. When a story everyone is talking about has a real dilemma inside it, we turn it into a short game you can play on a computer or phone, with nothing to install and no sign-up.

What we make

Short, replayable games about current events: a naval standoff in the Strait of Hormuz, a race weekend at Monza, a billionaire waiting years for a licence. Each one takes the tension at the heart of a story and gives you the choices. Rounds take minutes, and there are leaderboards and challenge links if you want to compete with friends.

  • Rocket Roadster: drive the curved ramp upside down, fire the thrusters and fly a flying sports car for 60 seconds through rings and dragons.
  • SIR: Door to Door: be the Booth Level Officer in a 3D Indian village during the voter roll revision, and decide who stays on the roll.
  • GigawattAQI 999Gali GlowSwing StateGhost Gig: a Halloween rhythm game where you play in a haunted mansion's house band, one room and one instrument at a time.
  • Garba Nights: run a Navratri garba ground for nine nights, from the gate to the midnight cut-off.
  • Hormuz Standoff: 3D naval strategy from three sides of a standoff.
  • Monza GP: knockout qualifying and racing at the Temple of Speed.
  • Dish Pending: a parody strategy game about satellite internet and red tape.

How we pick stories

We watch what's trending on news and social feeds and track it on the Trendometer. A story becomes a game when it has a clear conflict and choices that matter. Ideas that are close to ready are listed as "Dropping soon", earlier ones as "In the lab".

Facts and fiction

Every headline on bumshi links the report it comes from, and every game page names the story behind it. Blurbs about real people stick to what was reported. Inside the games, the characters, companies, posts and events are fictional or clearly labelled parody, and the games don't take sides in real conflicts. Nothing on the site is news or advice. The details are on our Legal & privacy page.

How games and articles are made

A small team makes bumshi. We use AI tools to help write code and draft text. A person picks the stories, checks the facts against the linked sources and decides what goes live. Our blog has guides to each game and explainers on the stories behind them, with sources linked next to the facts they support.

Privacy in one paragraph

You can play everything without an account. We use our own cookieless analytics, plus Meta's measurement for our Facebook and Instagram ads outside Europe (you can switch it off in Privacy choices). There are no ads on the site yet; we've applied to Google AdSense, and the privacy page explains what changes when ads go live. Accounts (optional, 18+) are only for leaderboards. The full policy is on the privacy page.
